Essential Oil Basics

What Are Essential Oils?

Essential oils are highly concentrated, chemically complex compounds produced by plants. They are distilled or pressed from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots, resins or other parts of a plant. Essential oils have been referred to as Nature's Pharmacy because they were the first “medicines” of our ancestors. Because the oils are highly concentrated, a little bit goes a long way.

How to Use Essential Oils

Aromatically - Diffuse with an ultrasonic diffuser, or in a humidifier, or put a drop into the palm of your hands, rub, breathe in, etc.

Topically - Add a few drops to your favorite unscented lotion, massage oil, or carrier oil, then rub in.*

*Rule-of-thumb is that essential oils should be diluted or "cut" in a carrier oil or other base before applying to skin.  There are exceptions that you need to be knowledgeable of prior to using essential oils full strength, if appropriate.  Always use caution.

Don’t Take Essential Oils Internally

Earthwise products are NOT intended to be taken internally.  Suggesting, recommending, implying someone take an essential oil internally is prescribing. Earthwise Oils, LLC is not your licensed medical professional; therefore, we cannot and will not prescribe. Earthwise Oils, LLC and the FDA take this very seriously.
